80% Cotton/20% Polyester, 350 gram brushed fleece crewneck sweater with connections logo prints on the front and the back.
When read anticlockwise the connections logo reads ‘Bantu’. It is this rearrangement of the letters from the word ‘Bantu’ into ‘Butan’ that defines the ethos of our brand. The word ‘Bantu’ from the Zulu word ‘Abantu’ meaning ‘People’ was abused during the Apartheid regime, where terms such as ‘ Bantu Education’ were used by the government as a form of classification and degradation of black South Africans. The the re-arrangement of the letters and the creation of the new word ‘Butan’ is an attempt to reclaim history and to pay homage to our roots and heritage. It signifies an entirely new mindset and outlook on life in contemporary South Africa. It is this fusion between cultural heritage and the present day experience that creates the unique look and feel of the brand.
