Tebogo“ProVerb”Thekisho is a South African Hip Hop recording artist, MC, lecturer, voice over artist, brand ambassador, television and radio personality best known for hosting South African Idols Season 6 in 2010. In 2009 he participated in Survivor Santa Carolina and finished third making the most amount of money for his charity “Bophelo Children’s Home”
His Music career boasts three studio albums (Book of Proverb 2005, Manuscript 2007 and Write of Passage 2009) and one free for download Mixtape.(Off da books.) He has received multiple nominations for all the projects respectively, including: Best Male Artist, Best music video, Mixtape of the year and best African South. He has also collaborated with a host of artists both locally and abroad and has performed alongside some of the world’s greats. 2006 Saw him travel to France and Spain as part of a delegation to represent South Africa at a world Hip Hop Summit.
ProVerb has hosted various events as Master of ceremonies including FHM’s sexiest 100 women in the world 2010, The Re-opening of Clearwater Mall, The SACSC Spectrum Awards and in 2007-2008 he was invited by UNICEF to MC the African Youth day celebrations in Ethiopia Addis Ababa. He hosted The Miss South Africa beauty Pageant 2010 alongside former Miss Universe Michelle McLean.
His Television appearances include SABC’s Scamto Ground Breakers 2004 which saw him travel to Uganda and India respectively as a part of an exchange program. He hosted a Hip hop Show on Channel O “HeadRush” 2005-2008 and a Nationwide Hip Hop talent search segment on SABC 1’s Jam Alley 2009. He has also hosted the most successful season of South African Idols to date: Season 6 in 2010 and has been contracted for Season 7, starting February 2011.
Once a week he lectures a Tv Production and radio course at DamelinBramley, sharing his experience and knowledge acquired from being in the industry with aspiring leaners.
Born and raised in Kimberley, ProVerb came up to Joburg in 1999 to pursuehis tertiary studies. In 2003 he completed a diploma in Sound Engineering, immediately thereafter producing the biggest breakfast show in Gauteng “The Freshest Breakfast show” hosted by DJ Fresh 2004. Three years later he advanced to a national radio station “Metro Fm”where he was a technical producer for the drive time show “The Avenue” with Glen Lewis and Unathi. While there he perused an on-air radio career and has since moved to 94.7 Highveld stereo when he continues to train.
As a voice over artists ProVerb’s voice can be heard on numerous radio, television adverts and Promo’s. He also writes and produces jingles as heard on “Jam Alley’s opening theme, all the bed music of the same show as well as on Supersport DSTV and most recently SABC 2’s Women’s Month Promotion.
In 2007 he was nominated as a Health Ambassador for the Northern Cape, 2009 he was included in the Converse Legends campaign and later that year ProVerb starred in a “Champions” PSA recorded in commemoration of World AIDS Day alongside Mr. Festus Mogae (former president of Botswana), Dr. Kenneth Kaunda (former president of Zambia) and Mr. Benjamin Mkapa (former president of Tanzania)
In 2010 ProVerb and Ashley Hayden were appointed as Volvo Car South Africa Brand Ambassadors and toured around the country hosting launches and promotions. Black Berry also utilises his growing brand in their endorsement program, and most recently Proverb was announced alongside Matthew Booth, Jeremy Mansfield and Shaun Bartlett as one of The Springbok Supporters Club Ambassadors.
